Like the home shirt, this was also designed by fans but it is not based on any given prior shirt--the design falls almost entirely upon the fan's input but a slight misunderstanding at Kelme caused the striped section to be the same as used on the home shirt (the original designer used more stripes).

In both the home and away shirt the slogan "El Equipo de su Gente" (The People's Team) can be read in the inner collar. Alajuelense adopted the slogan after being popularized by the club's barra brava and disseminated by the fans on social media for the last three years.
