Alajuelense Home football shirt 2001 - 2002

2001 - 2002 Alajuelense home football shirt. Home shirt used by Alajuelense for the first part of the 2001-02 season, in which the club won their second league treble in their history (the first one being obtained between 1958 and 1960).

The road to the league treble was not easy as the previous season, and Alajuelense was ruled out of the Apertura due to faltering performances (despite this, Alajuelense ended the Apertura in third place, four points behind leaders Santos de Guápiles) which caused Portuguese gaffer Guilherme Farinha to resign, and his assistant manager Rodrigo Kenton to see off the team in a caretaker role. Alajuelense\'s form improved when Kenton took over (earning a tie and five wins), however Kenton did not assume the role permanently as he was bound to an assistant manager position in the World Cup-bound NT; and as the Alajuelense Board of Directors decided to bring a then-unknown Jorge Luis Pinto to the hot seat.

Under Pinto\'s stead, Alajuelense turned over a new leaf for the Clausura and deservedly earned a place in the national finals against Santos de Guápiles; by qualifying to them with several matches to spare after achieving a sixteen-point difference over the second-placed Herediano.

The above shirt was outsourced to Costa Rican brand Arena Sport after Mexican brand Eescord (which still featured on the shirt) apparently abandoned the deal.
