  One of three Alajuelense home shirts used during the 1986-87 season, and perhaps the most popular of them.

  Alajuelense had an irregular domestic season which could be corrected along the way (although it costed two gaffers their position) with the third one (Czechoslovak Josef Bouska) managing to reach the national finals against Municipal Puntarenas, however the chuchequeros ended up being the best team.

  In the international end of things Alajuelense became the first Costa Rican club to win the region's top competition (the CONCACAF Champions Cup) after knocking out Guatemalan side Juventud Retalteca, Salvadoran powerhouse Alianza FC, Bermudan side Pembroke Hamilton, and beating Surinamese champions Transvaal SV in the finals.

  The above shirt was worn in both matches against Transvaal (both legs were played in Alajuela as agreed between the sides), as well as against Pembroke in the home match.
