ADG played this season on the Segunda División after being relegated at the end of the 1992-93 season, and was promoted alongside Asociación Deportiva Carmelita at season's end (one of them direct, the other one after playing relegation/promotion playoff).

Afterwards, ADG only played during the 1995-96 season on the first level, being relegated again at the end of that season, and not returning until the 2002-03 season. Guanacaste was relegated again at the end of the 2003-04 season, and has not returned to the Primera División since.

The above example was owned by the late Uruguayan coach Orlando de León Cattalurda and remains under his son's custody. De León was considered a promotion maestro (whilst having varied degrees of success in the following season), and last attained success on the top flight while coaching Club Sport Herediano, ending runner-up on the Invierno 2010.
