2011 New England Revolution away voetbalshirt . *UPDATE* 18 June 2018.

This is the 2011 preseason away jersey!

The best description of this jersey is .... Perplexing.

There is so much wrong, but almost right about it.

To begin, the date tag on the inside of the jersey is 10/10. October of 2010. The UnitedHealthCare jersey sponsorship (in 2013 it became simply UHC) didn't debut on the field until April 22, 2011. (pre-manufacturing, I get that) But, this is NOT the 2011 Away jersey design.

This jersey design has elements from several years. 2012,2010,2008,2006. But, the design has never appeared in this form before. As far as I know.

The Revolution name on the left sleeve had never been done before, and then there is the back. A large Adidas logo in the middle of the back where a number would be on a player issued jersey. If this was a promotional offering, or a Training/Leisure jersey, why the MLS league patch on the right sleeve ?

At this point, my thoughts are leaning in several directions.

1) This was a promotional, or special event jersey in advance of the reveal of the 2011 season. (Then why choose the Away Jersey and not the Home version ?)

2) This was an Adidas issued promotional jersey. (hence the whopping great logo on the back)

3) This was a pre-season/training jersey. (then why put a large Adidas logo on the back, possibly in violation of league sponsorship regulations ?)

4) This is a complete Fake. (but very well done)

5) Or, I'm just loosing my mind over something trivial. (a distinct possibility, regardless of any answers)

I'll just add that the MLS patch and Adidas stripes are correctly sewn on, the Revolution logo is an appliqué, all other markings/logos are heat transfers. All tags and labels are correct for an Adidas issued ClimaCool jersey of that time period.
