Alajuela Junior Keeper  voetbalshirt  2013 - 2014

2013 - 2014 Alajuela Junior goalkeeper voetbalshirt . Goalkeeper shirt used between 2013 and 2014. Originally unsponsored, it had the Coca-Cola sponsor later added to it. One of the goalies for this team was Kevin Ruiz who was later promoted to the Primera División team.

Alajuela Junior was originally a separate entity which originated as a breakaway club from the Liga Deportiva Alajuelense organization and was founded in April 11th 1932. Alajuela Junior played either in all-yellow or yellow shirt and white shorts, which earned them the nickname "The Canaries". Alajuela Junior originally went defunct in 1936, this was triggered by a long-term morale blow caused by the death of star forward Rafael Herra in a car accident. During their short history, Alajuela Junior played in the Primera División for most of its existence, winning promotion in 1933. There are no known surviving examples of their shirts.

Despite their original status as a breakaway club, the original Alajuela Junior did not have any ill relationship with Liga Deportiva Alajuelense.

During 2011, Liga Deportiva Alajuelense decided to field an age-capped youth team on the LINAFA (Liga Nacional de Fútbol Aficionado; non-league) championship by purchasing a franchise. Alajuelense lost against Siquirreña on the promotion play-offs but was promoted nonetheless--LINAFA champion Finca Austria de Nosara did not have the necessary funds to compete on the second tier (as its Austrian backer returned home for family reasons) and reached an agreement with Liga Deportiva Alajuelense for their franchise. Alajuelense returned their franchise to LINAFA and took possession of the Finca Austria one in a multi-year agreement, eventually fielding a team in the LIASCE 2012-13 season and adopting the Alajuela Junior name in homage of the original team.

In its second incarnation, Alajuela Junior (and their LINAFA iteration) played under the Liga Deportiva Alajuelense badge and colours, the original badge (if any) being lost in time. There were plans for a yellow shirt to be used as away or third shirt, however they were quietly scrapped. Alajuela Junior used the same shirt models as their Primera División counterpart but they did not share the same sponsors--Alajuela Junior originally played sponsorless but later adopted the Coca-Cola sponsor as the one on front.

Alajuela Junior folded for the second time in 2015 after the Liga Deportiva Alajuelense Board of Directors decided to end the project. The franchise was returned to LIASCE and was eventually reassigned. As it was part of the Liga Deportiva Alajuelense organization, Alajuela Junior would have had to give their place to another team in case they would have earned a hypothetical promotion to the Primera División.

During its short second existence, Alajuela Junior provided no less than ten players to the Primera División team. The most notable example to date is the defender Ronald Matarrita, who as of writing plays for New York City FC in the MLS. Matarrita was signed from Liga Deportiva Alajuelense on early 2016, and was promoted from Alajuela Junior on early 2014.
