1987 Alajuelense home baju bolasepak. One of three Alajuelense home shirts used on the 1986-87 season. This item was used in the latter half of the season.

This shirt was used alongside a better-known example that had the stripe colors reversed and was employed by Alajuelense on their run to their first CONCACAF trophy. This shirt is further differentiated from the other as the latter featured the club badge, while the above item featured the popular WBA-styled club initials which were first employed in 1984, were last used in play in 1991 and were last commercially used on club leisurewear in 2019.

Alajuelense had a rough start of the season, featuring on the lower half of the league table; and correcting mistakes along the way (costing them two managers, Dutchman Theodorus Cremmers and national Carlos Watson; with 50s and 60s former player Nelson Morera stepping between them as caretaker), with Czechoslovak coach Josef Bouska finishing the season and winning the aforementioned regional silverware in between. Alajuelense eventually ended second in the regular season, two points below leaders Municipal Puntarenas; and won the playoff round for a place in the Grand Final against the chuchequeros, who eventually won the domestic title.

Shirt #11 was worn by forward Omar Arroyo, who departed for San Carlos at the end of the season. His venture in northern Alajuela would be a cameo as he returned to Alajuelense in mid-1988 to see off his playing career.
