2020 - 2021 Alajuelense home baju bolasepak. New home shirt to be used by Alajuelense during the 2020-21 season.

The above item (as well as the away shirt) are the third consecutive shirts designed with fan input. The home shirt has received some criticism due to it resembling a third shirt more than the home one; however it is the latter due to the presence of the stripes (and liberal interpretation of club\'s home shirt guidelines).

Shirt #10 was assigned to star player Bryan Ruiz who returned to the country after playing abroad for 13 years, for the likes of KAA Gent, FC Twente Enschede (winning the Eredivisie for the second time in the club\'s history), Fulham, PSV Eindhoven on loan, and Santos FC. Ruiz started his playing career in 2003 for Alajuelense playing as a forward, but upon his departure to the international scene in 2006 he began playing as a midfielder, which he has done successfully since.

The previous owner of the shirt (Honduran midfielder Alexander López) switched to shirt #11 for the season.

Shirt used by Alajuelense on the CONCACAF League final against Saprissa. It is the same model as the domestic home shirt except for the CL patch and matchday "embroidery" (which was only implemented for the final).

Alajuelense shook off an almost seven-year silverware drought by beating Herediano in the Costa Rican Apertura final (earning the long-awaited 30th league title), and a month and a half later won the first regional title in 15 years by winning the CONCACAF League final on a single-matched final.

Despite being a minor regional title (Alajuelense aims to win the CONCACAF Champions League for the third time, this competition begins on April), it was the second time in which a Costa Rican Clásico doubled as a regional final (the first one being for the 2003-04 CONCACAF Champions Cup), also being the second time in which Alajuelense beat Saprissa in such an instance.

Shirt #11 is used by Honduran midfielder Alexander López. López arrived in 2018 immediately after his compatriots Róger Rojas and Luis Fernando Garrido, being poached from Club Deportivo Olimpia. López was heavily criticized following the 2019 Apertura final (after missing a vital penalty during said final's shootout) and walked on thin ice during the first half of 2020 on the eyes of Alajuelense's fandom. López however amended his irregular shape when he was paired with the returning Bryan Ruiz in mid-2020; and was a key member of Alajuelense's squad that won the aforementioned silverware.

López swapped his long-standing #10 shirt (as he started using it on early 2019 following the departure of fellow midfielder José Luis Cordero) with Ruiz, returning to #11 (which he was assigned when he arrived to Alajuelense in 2018).
