Rochester Raging Rhinos 2000, 2005-2009
Founded in 1996, the Rochester Raging Rhinos would drop the “Raging” part of their name in 2008. After a 2yr hiatus (2018-2019), Rochester will begin playing again in the new USL-League1 (Division III) starting in 2020. The Rhinos are the only non-MLS team to win the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup (1999) since MLS joined the competition.
John Ball had a long career as a player (1996-2014) spanning several leagues and numerous teams, including Futsol and Arena Soccer. He played both Indoors and Outdoors. He had two stints with the Rhinos, the first in 2000 and then again from 2005 to 2009. He played one season in MLS with the Chicago Fire in 1999. In 2012 he began his coaching career, starting at the High School level.
