Alajuelense Istimewa baju bolasepak 2000

2000 Alajuelense special baju bolasepak. Shirt worn during the pre-season (most notably on a 2-1 win against Peruvian team Alianza Lima on the Copa Merconorte opener) and on the 2000-01 season opener against Carmelita (a 1-2 loss).

Alajuelense ended their sponsorship deal with Mexican brand Atlética after the end of the 1999-2000 season and wore (also) Mexican brand Eescord starting from the second match in the 2000-01 until early 2002 when Alajuelense switched to Brazilian brand Finta.

This particular example, despite being "sponsored" by Eescord, was copied from the second Atlética shirt by Costa Rican Heredia-based apparel maker Sportek (one can notice their tag on the bottom part of the shirt) and used as a temporary home shirt until the Eescord shipment arrived. Because of this, this shirt was never made available for sale to the public and it could be only obtained from players or discarded from the kit room.

Shirt #17 was originally assigned to Luis Venegas but was later given to notorious Saprissa turncoat Steven Bryce (who switched to Alajuelense mid-season).
