2003 - 2004 Heart Of Midlothian away φανέλα ποδόσφαιρου. This is a special match worn long sleeved Remembrance Poppy shirt. It was worn by Kevin McKenna at Pittodrie vs Aberdeen on the 9th of November 2003. Even though wearing a Poppy shirt is common place these days in football I believe this was the first game when a Poppy was worn on a football shirt by any team. Hearts players and staff usually attend the Heart of Midlothian War Memorial on Remembrance Sunday but thanks to the SPL and SKY TV the team was made to play on that Remembrance Sunday for the first time ever in 2003. Hearts put the Poppy on the shirt that day as a mark of respect as they could not be in Edinburgh that day at the annual ceremony. This shirt was won at an auction that Craig Levein was present at and it has been signed by him. Levein was the Hearts manager at the time.
