Home shirt as worn during the season when Trots van het Noorden finished 7th in the Eredivisie and qualified for European competition play-offs but they could not secure a place in the Europa League as they were defeated by Twente in the semi-finals. In the KNVB Cup, Groningen reached the fourth round where they were knocked out by Ajax. This was the last season in the Dutch league for Virgil van Dijk who signed for Celtic at the end of the campaign
