This item was used when Alajuelense contested the return leg against Argentinian powerhouse River Plate for the Interamerican Cup. Alajuelense could not repeat the heroics shown at Alajuela and fell against a superior team by a 3-0 score.

Shirt #19 was worn by attacking midfielder Joaquín Bernardo Guillén on his first season with Alajuelense. Guillén spent a total eleven years with the club and left in 1998 to Guatemalan football.
