The above shirt is a near-exact replica of Alajuelense\'s away shirt used in the 1999-2000 season, which was used during away matches and once at home, and most famously when Alajuelense dispatched Mexican powerhouse Club Toluca on their way to the CONCACAF Champions Cup final contested at Las Vegas in late 1999.

Alajuelense was sponsored by financial institution Mutual Alajuela, who were on their final season with the club after two stints, however the sponsor was not included on the shirt as it is not currently a shirt sponsor (but sponsors billboards across the stadium).
