This is a home shirt for what we now know as Japanese J-League club Yokohama F. Marinos. Born out of a merger between the Yokohama Marinos and Yokohama Flügels, this proud powerhouse of Japanese football is one of the most succesful in the island nation’s history with three J-League titles to their name.

We can establish that the shirt was issued between ’77 and ’87, which was the period in which Ton du Chatinier played for FC Utrecht (both FCU and Yokohama were sponsored by Nissan at the time). With that knowledge in mind, we can confirm that this is actually a Nissan Motor Co., Ltd (In-house) Soccer Club jersey, as was the name of the club before being renamed NISSAN FC YOKOHAMA MARINOS in 1992, prior to the launch of the J-League a year later.
