UCR Home football shirt 2000 - 2001

2000 - 2001 UCR home football shirt. Home shirt used by the Universitarios during the 2000-01 Ascenso season. The university team was in the middle of a long stay in the Costa Rican second tier, and would return to the top one in 2007.

UCR (the university) was founded in 1940 by presidential decree (the team was placed on the top level by presidential decree) and has one league title.

The shirt noticeably features the Liga Deportiva Alajuelense badge as both institutions had a working agreement for a number of years in which Alajuelense youngsters were loaned out to the U for first team action before they were recalled to Alajuela. Said agreement ended in 2003, and Alajuelense has experimented with other ways of developing their youngsters, such as the Alajuela Junior team and agreements with clubs such as Municipal Santa Ana, COFUTPA and AD Aserrí.
