1990 Republic of Ireland special football shirt. This is the incredibly rare 1990 Adidas prototype shirt that Ireland never had.
Designed with the Italia 90 World Cup in mind there are many rumours to why it was never officially adopted. Identical in design to the classic German official 1990 home shirt it never made the playing field and was instead replaced by a more humble and recognised shoulder three striped design.
There are a few articles online you can check out to find out more. This is one of the rare ones that got out into public hands.

We are reliably informed this was a prototype shirt made by Adidas pre 1990, but was never used.
This is a really rare and odd Irish shirt dating back to around 1987 when Adidas took over the kit manufacturing duties for the Ireland football team from O'Neills. They still had the old style logo (which they kept for another few months before they had to change to the circular one) but I never recall Ireland actually playing in this type of shirt - if anyone remembers Ireland playing in it at any level (u18, u21, B international etc.) please let me know!
