Home shirt as worn by the Northampton Town squad during the 2008/2009 Coca-Cola League One season in which the Cobblers suffered the ignominy of relegation on the final day of the season, coming up one point short to avoid going down as 21st in the standings. Made by Vandanel, this shirt is unusual in the amount of yellow that accompanied the club's usual claret and white, making this design look more like a Bradford City top than something the home tem at Sixfields would wear.
This particular top was worn by attacking midfielder Ryan Gilligan, who totalled 31 league appearances that season and was kind enough to leave his signature on the front. It sits just below the logo of real estate agents Jackson Grundy, who sponsored the front of the club's shirts for a few years and used the Cobblers' home strips as inspiration for their own coporate colours. The period-appropriate crest is a modernist monstrosity that was horrifically unpopular with the fans and was thankfully binned following four seasons of use and continuous protests from the supporters.
