These amateur league’s association with the USASA is what allows the teams to qualify for the US Open Cup under the USASA banner, without jeopardizing the players amateur status.

They have won eight CSL titles in their history, in 1979, 1980, 1982, 2003, 2004, 2008, 2010, 2011, and 2019. They have also won the US Open Cup three times, in 1980, 1982, 1983.

From 1999 to 2003, the Freedoms created a second team to also compete in the USL’s Premier Development League (PDL, which is now the USL- League 2). In their five years in the PDL they won the playoff title twice, in 2002 and 2003. At the end of the 2003 season the club disbanded the USL team so they could concentrate their efforts on the CSL, as well as in youth development.
