This is a commemorative shirt marking the 1990 zenith datasystems cup final, which was the sponsored name of the full members cup. It ran from 1986 to 1992 as a replacement competition for english clubs banned from europe.
Boro played chelsea and lost 1-0 to a tony dorigo goal,and had to wait another 14 years (til the 2004 league cup final) to win at wembley for the 1st time ine their history.
Attached is a photo of the cup I took at the national football museum, preston.
