This was a third kit Chelsea used during our relegation season 1987-88.

We reverted back to Umbro after ventures with Le Coq Sportif and the ill fated Chelsea Collection. Umbro provided a template shirt with diamonds in the material. The regular away shirt was the controversial all jade kit. But in the play off game with Blackburn Rovers this one off red kit was used.

Unfortunately thhis stylish kit was only used for that one game.

That season ended in relegation for the blues. The last time such a fate was suffered
