Alajuelense Home football shirt 1983

1983 Alajuelense home football shirt. One of three different home shirts used by Alajuelense during the 1983-84 season, mainly worn on 1983.

This particular design features two stripes on the front and three on the back, and was later exchanged with a popular hooped design with current Alajuelense fandom. All shirts were furnished by El Centro de Sport\'s clothing brand DeSport.

Alajuelense won the league title for the first time in three years after seeing Herediano and Saprissa obtain it in 1982 (1981 season) and 1983 (1982 season) respectively. The club was helmed by Max Villalobos, who was later substituted with former Saprissa, Alajuelense and Herediano forward Odir Jacques on his first tenure with the club; returning for a short time in 1988 before being sacked on early 1989. Jacques did not continue on the hot seat despite winning the title, handing the position to national gaffer Álvaro Grant McDonald.

The 1983 season was the last one to date in which the inaugural matchday had a Clásico against Saprissa on it, which Alajuelense won 2-1. The 2010-11 season and the Invierno 2011 were later noticeable for having the Clásico on the second matchday, to both sets of fans\' chagrin.
