This particular shirt was debuted by soon-to-be record-breaking goalie Patrick Pemberton on April 2017 at San Carlos for the Verano 2017 tournament. The sponsorship arrangements correspond to the second half of the Apertura 2017 tournament in which Mobil rejoins Alajuelense as a sponsor (it previously appeared on the shorts a few years ago until the deal lapsed).

Besides Pemberton, Alajuelense goalies are Mauricio Vargas, Erick Adonis Pineda and Gabriel Núñez.
