New Sponsorships, Worthing FC & Steyning Town CFC

Here we are then, the new football season just over the horizon, and we’re announcing our sponsorships for the 2017/2018 campaign.

As many of our readers will know, we’ve been sponsoring a players kit at my beloved Brighton & Hove Albion for the past ten seasons. Sadly the upshot of the Seagulls promotion to the Premier League means that the cost of kit sponsorship has quadrupled, to a rate that we just can’t afford.

So, where do we go from here? Well, I’m a bit of a footie addict, and when Brighton haven’t been playing I’ve been watching a couple of local non league sides, Worthing FC and Steyning Town CFC, so that’s who oldfootballshirts.com are going to put some sponsorship into.

Worthing FC play in the Bostik League Premier League, the seventh tier of English league football. Their stadium is Woodside Road in central Worthing, boasting a 3G pitch and an excellent fan base with some of the biggest crowds in the league. Nicknamed the Mackerel Men, and also known as the Rebels, we’ll be sponsoring striker Omar Folkes’ home and away kits for the season. Omar began as a youngster at Chelsea before playing at Southend, Kingstonian, Croydon, Whyteleafe and Merstham.

Steyning Town Community Football Club are in the Southern Combination Football League Division 1, and play at the fantastically named Shooting Fields. I spent my school years in Steyning, and recently met up with a old school friend who works at the club. After going to watch the team a few times last season, and enjoying the marvellous clubhouse and bar, I thought the Barrowmen would be an ideal team, so for next season we’ll be sponsoring the kit of the clubs top scorer, Charlie Romain.

We’ll continue to sponsor The Albion Roar, the unofficial Brighton fans radio show, with the legendary ‘shirt of the week’ feature provided by us.

That’s all for now, I’ll be providing some updates as the season progresses, and hopefully interviews with our sponsored players, in the meantime enjoy our website, and if you have any footie shirts that we don’t have, we’d love to see some photos posted. www.oldfootballshirts.com
