Scottish football is well known for its rich and sometimes ridiculous history. From the legendary Lisbon Lions to Gazza booking the ref or even the national team beating Switzerland while wearing the Swiss away strip, the sport’s past is a source of immense pride for supporters across the country. With a new season kicking off, fans will be hoping for more iconic moment which makes it a good time to remember Scottish football’s colourful past.

To celebrate the history of the sport, Dundee-based publisher, DC Thomson, has put together the ultimate list of Scottish football memories. This selection of classic moments, which was contributed to by fans, marks the release of Lifted Over The Turnstiles, a new book featuring incredible unseen photographs of the hallowed grounds where history was made.

The list has already sparked heated discussion amongst fans, with supporters of every club having a firm opinion about their team’s best memory. Such talking points are all part and parcel of our love of the beautiful game and the timeline will both serve as a reminder of why we are mad for it and bring some previously unknown oddities to the attention of many.
