  This blue Bukta number seemed very smart indeed, with the white Buks down the sleeves looking rather like the white seagull on the new round crest. It made it possible for Brighton to retain their main colours in away trips to the likes of Southampton and Crystal Palace. The shirt was usually worn with white shorts and blue socks, such as the 2-0 victory at Sunderland in October 1977, a result that took Brighton to the top of the Second Division for the first time ever. A month later, the shirt was worn by the likes of Ward, Mellor and Clark with white shorts and - surprisingly - red socks for the visit to Spurs. It appears that the kit was usurped by an all-yellow affair in 1978/79. However, when Brighton met Spurs at White Hart Lane in 1979/80, this time as a First Division fixture, they were wearing this jersey again.
