Alajuelense Away baju bolasepak 1988 - 1989

1988 - 1989 Alajuelense away baju bolasepak. Away shirt used by Alajuelense between 1988 and early 1989.

This design, inspired by the one that PUMA gave to Borussia Mönchengladbach, was popular enough to be used thrice--originally debuted on 1984 (also with Punto Rojo as sponsor), was carried over to 1985 (with Glidden as sponsor) and in 1988 (the above shirt).

For this season, a variant that reverts the colors of the stripe (black and red rather than red and black) was used on one match, a 4-1 drubbing to ASODELI in Alajuela.

Shirt #9 was used by forward Omar Arroyo on his final competitive season. Arroyo returned to Alajuelense in mid-1988 after contesting most of the 1987-88 season with San Carlos; and retired on early 1989 following disagreements with the coaching staff over disciplinary matters. Arroyo, a banker by trade, disappeared from the game after his retirement; only resurfacing in the early 2000s to coach Naranjo in the second tier and to steer them away from relegation to non-league.
