Alajuelense Home baju bolasepak 2004 - 2005

2004 - 2005 Alajuelense home baju bolasepak. Home shirt worn by Alajuelense during the 2004-05 season, in which the team won its 24th league title after coming (nearly) empty-handed on the previous season--Alajuelense had a rollercoaster 2003-04 season in which they could not defend their title for the fifth year ongoing and saw rivals Saprissa finish a drought of their own against Herediano, but ended up obtaining regional silverware when the only all-Costa Rican CONCACAF Champions Cup was contested against Saprissa, being won on a 5-1 aggregate (1-1 at Heredia as Saprissa could not obtain permission from CONCACAF to use their home turf, and 4-0 at Alajuela).

Alajuelense had former player Javier Delgado appointed as coach full-time for this season after being named as caretaker during the latter part of the 2003-04 season (this after former Argentina international and World Cup winner Jorge Mario Olguín was sacked after a poor string of results, and Olguín himself being named after former Peruvian international Juan Carlos Oblitas was sacked as well due to poor results and his signing deemed a mistake by club president Rafael Ortiz). Winning the CONCACAF title earned Delgado the job (despite having no previous managerial experience) and was sent to Spain for further education ahead of the 2004-05 season.

Alajuelense missed out on the Apertura finals after Saprissa edged them on penalty kicks on the return semifinal match (and Saprissa being edged out by Pérez Zeledón on the Apertura finals); and won the Clausura finals against Saprissa on aggregate. Alajuelense then contested the national finals against Pérez Zeledón, being the superior team.

Shirt #5 (made by Costa Rican firm Jugados) was worn by midfielder Luis Diego Arnáez, being this his final season with the club as he retired from the game ahead of the 2005-06 season.

This particular example was worn in the latter half of the season as it features the FedEx sponsor on the lower back, which was added on early 2005. FedEx had a short spell with Alajuelense as they did not return for the 2005-06 season.

Shirt #27 was used by midfielder Josimar Arias, who competed at the 2003 U-17 World Cup and was given his first start with Alajuelense at the end of the year. Arias started featuring more prominently beginning on the 2004-05 season, however his Alajuelense career never took off and departed to Puntarenas FC ahead of the 2007-08 season.
