Third shirt as used during 2014. This has been one of the most popular designs produced by PUMA for Alajuelense, as it arguably may have outsold the home shirt itself. It has been worn by the team on home matches in exchange of the home shirt, and as an actual third shirt. It has also been worn on international duty on both visits to Panama on March (against Árabe Unido for the 2013-14 Champions League quarterfinals) and on September (against Chorrillo for the 2014-15 Champions League group stage).

According to recently discovered evidence, Alajuelense has worn halved red/black shirts as early as 1940. A halved shirt has also been worn on the early 1950s, 1966, 1970, 1971 and as a one-off shirt used on the Froylán Ledezma testimonial on 2012. The 2014 third shirt somewhat resembles the 1970 home shirt, although some state that it was made as a homage to Argentinian side Newell's Old Boys.

Back printing for this shirt is partially customized--shirt #29 was worn by midfielder Jorge Davies during the Verano 2014, however it was left unassigned during the recently concluded Invierno 2014 following Davies's end-of-contract release. Regular printing for this shirt was silver but it was replaced with the goalkeeper shirt printing upon request.
