Steyning Town leant their kit for a charity match in May 2007, when these photos were taken. Neil Evans and Matt Bailey decided to organise a charity football match when Ivan Mitchell, a friend and colleague, was diagnosed with cancer in the early part of 2006.
The game was kicked off by former Brighton & Hove Albion player Peter O’Sullivan. The match itself was played in a good spirit by both sets of players. Evans Eleven were 3-0 up at half time, but Bailey’s Braves hit back with a couple of goals in the second half to make it an exciting finish.
At Ivans request, all money raised was donated to MacMillan Cancer Support, over £2000 was donated on the day.
Sadly Ivan passed away in the summer of 2007, he will be sadly missed. RIP Ivan.
