The Pitmen reached the F.A. Trophy Final in 03-04, and embroidered the player's shirts to mark the occasion against Canvey Island at Villa Park. Despite having been 'relegated' to the restructured Southern League only three weeks earlier, the Pitmen beat Canvey 3-2, with Chris Brindley firing home the winner with three minutes remaining
