Away Shirt 1997 to 1998

I am told this shirt was issued as a third away option in 1998. I was also told that only a few shirts had been produced and the remainder after player issue were sold thru the club shop. Can anyone confirm this?
Eds note, this was the away shirt for the first season at Gillingham
