This is a 2009/2010 home shirt of Brazilian side “Associação Chapecoense de Futebol”, now known, for the saddest of reasons the world over simply as Chapecoense.

The side was formed in 1973 in the Brazilian city of Chapeco, known by the nicknames Verdão (Big Green) and Furacão do Oeste (West’s Hurricane) they have never been relegated, only promoted. They finally made it to the top flight in 2014. In total they have won 10 championships & trophies in their short history, this could soon rise to 11.

On the 28th November 2016 the team was flying to Colombia to play the first leg of the Copa Sudamerica final against Atletico National when a devastating plane crash killed almost the entire team.

There have been a number of truly amazing offers made to the Club by football organisations in South America. Atletico National have requested that Chapecoense be awarded the Copa Sudamerica trophy. Several Brazilian clubs have offered players on loan, at no cost, and furthermore Brazilian clubs have suggested that Chapecoense should be immune from relegation for three years to give them a chance to try and recover from this devastating incident.
