Specky and zig-zag pattern seems to be a trend in the late 1980s. You can easily name shirts like EURO88 Holland home, WC1990 West Germany away, 1991 Arsenal away, 1990-1992 Man Utd away.
Here comes the specky red home shirt of Liverpool for the era of 1989-1991. No long sleeved replicas were ever produced.
